If running Windows XP, you should check your Service Pack status to ensure you have at least Service Pack 1a. Without this minimum requirement, we would be wasting our time attempting to clean your machine as it is likely to become reinfected within minutes of hooking up to the Internet again. Service Packs and Critical Updates from Microsoft are vital for the safe and 'relatively' secure running of your Operating System and browser (if using Internet Explorer).
You can determine which Service Packs (if any) are installed by entering your Control Panel and clicking on the "System" icon. Service Packs will be listed under the System section on the "General" tab. If you don't have any installed, please click the link below to download Service Pack 1a:
Choose the "Network Installation" link. Download it to your desktop and close ALL programs and windows before double-clicking the installation file.
WARNING: Under normal circumstances we would always recommend users currently without Service Pack 2 to update their systems to this level of protection as it offers some excellent security features not present in previous versions of Windows. However, if your machine has malware present, updating to SP2 can seriously affect your computer's stability or even render it unusable. Please refrain from installing SP2 (if not installed at present) until instructed to by our HJT Team. ---------------------------------- alex www.inspired_itsolution.com
